Steinbach Skating Club is a not-for-profit organization and Skate Canada member club, the largest skating instruction organization in Canada and the governing body of figure skating.
Our learn-to-skate and skill-development programs can be applied to figure, hockey, ringette or speed skating, or to enjoy gliding on a frozen pond. The Steinbach Skating Club wishes to inspire everyone to experience the joy of skating. We will be the leaders in delivering quality skating programs and continuously develop champions.

PreCanSkate is a learn-to-skate program geared towards beginner skaters aged 3 to 5. The program is designed to give skaters the basics of skating in a fun, play-based environment while implementing our 8 fundamental skills. This program is perfect for skaters with little or no skating experience. A Parent or Guardian is required on the ice with skates.

* All skaters require the annual Skate Canada Association membership fee to participate. All adults skating with Parent n’ tot skaters must also register online and require the annual Skate Canada membership fee to go on the ice.
Canskate is the learn to skate program which all others are measured against and offers the best curriculum in Canada. Our flagship learn-to-skate program has taught millions of Canadians to reach their recreational and competitive goals on the ice. The CanSkate program is geared to beginners of all ages, whether you are looking to improve basic skating skills for figure skating, hockey, ringette or speed skating, or wish to skate for recreation, fitness or fun, CanSkate will get you there.

Are you a Teen or Adolescent wanting to learn to skate? Our club is about creating a safe and welcoming environment for any individual to be their authentic self, learn to skate and achieve their personal goals. CanSkate Advanced is for skaters aged 9+. No prior experience is necessary! Skaters will learn the fundamentals of skating and work at their own pace on a more mature setting. This program follows our CanSkate curriculum and focuses on mastering strong basics.

Junior STAR is our bridging program transitioning skaters from the CanSkate levels into figure skating. This is a fun-filled, high-energy group lesson designed to keep skaters encouraged and moving! Skaters are taught by a 100% NCCP Certified Coach who will teach figure skating jumps, spins and movements while helping skaters master their remaining CanSkate skills. Ribbons and stage badges will be awarded as earned! Skaters have opportunities to perform on session or at events.

STARSkate offers the best-in-class figure skating curriculum in Canada, targeting athletes looking for a future in the sport. The program introduces participants to the basic figure skating elements to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate, artistic and synchronized skating. Coaching is not included.

Our Fall Skate welcomes skaters at STAR levels and coaches who are in good standing with Skate Canada and their home clubs. Coaching fees are not included. Please contact coaches or club for more information on private lessons.

A CSA Approved Hockey Helmet must be worn by all PreCanSkate, CanPowerSkate, CanSkate, and Intro-to-Star participants up to and including Stage 5. Please check for the CSA sticker. Registered Parents and Guardians supporting a PreCan skaters do not require a helmet. (subject to coaches discretion)
Refunds for programs are available only after two weeks from the start date or on a case-by-case basis, subject to review.
The Skate Canada membership is an annual, non-refundable fee that provides skaters and volunteers with national registration, insurance coverage and access to sanctioned programs and event from September 1 to August 31. The fee is $60.00 for the 2025-2026 season.
Skaters registered in the PreCan Parent n' Tot are skaters that have little or no experience on the ice and need support from a parent or guardian. Each skater will have 1 designated adult on the ice with skates. This designated adult will be required to register online and pay a discounted membership fee of $40.00. If a skater requires more than 1 adult for the season, any additional adults are required to register online and pay the full membership fee of $60.00.
Skaters will be placed on the correct session based on skating ability, test record, space, age and the discretion of the programs coach.
Skaters under the age of 12 must have a parent or guardian in the arena at all times during sessions.
The club reserves the right to adjust, cancel, or reschedule sessions should it be deemed necessary.
The club reserves the right to change or cancel any program for which there is insufficient paid registration.
Fundraising may be required for all club skaters, with additional fundraising obligations for higher levels.
